My Story

I started my college career at a college different from the one I am graduating from.  In high school I was confused, overwhelmed and trying to please my parents (like most high schoolers).  I decided that I should go to school for engineering, good pay, stable, and something I thought I could be good at. Throughout freshman year, I found I was terrible at physics, which made engineering very difficult.  I was getting C averages in my classes, falling behind, and in turn had a difficult time gaining respect from classmates. During spring break that year, I decided I needed to get it together if I wanted to succeed.  I then made the decision to study something involving math, at a school that had a very good business program, close to home.  I started in fall, knowing I needed to work extremely hard to get good results this time around.  From then to now, I have become a 4.0 student, with good relationships with professors, and I enjoy what I am doing.  This part of my life showed me I could work hard and completely change my results with my mindset.  I have transformed and learned so much with these past years, and I still appreciate my freshman year, for showing that even if I fail so hard, I can get myself out of it alone.  Although I have developed technical skills, such as coding, project management, and marketing, this experience taught me soft skills.  I am a much better communicator, as I relate to others, I can tutor people in classes, as I know what it’s like to struggle, and I have a part time job where I train team members and help them through their problems.
